2016
I started training in the gym in 2016, as a means of gaining some muscle mass. I soon realized strength training was a whole lot of fun, and super rewarding.

After 6 months of intentional Powerlifting Style training, I entered my first Powerlifting Competition. It was a daunting & exciting experience all in one!

I totaled 497.5kg, and well & had truly caught the Powerlifting bug.
Entry To Powerlifting
2018

Learning, Learning, Learning
Once I'd caught the Powerlifting bug, I started to realize just how much I didn't know.
Â
I immediately began to seek out everyone stronger than me, to learn as much as I could about how to get stronger.
Â
This included attending seminars, joining a Powerlifting gym, and hiring my first coach.

I also competed twice more this year, and added 50kg to my total.

2019
Qualified Personal Trainer
In 2019, I finished my Bachelor of Science (BSc) majoring in Psychology at Victoria University of Wellington (VUW). On completing my degree, I knew I wanted to be working in the health & fitness scene, so Personal Training was a natural fit.
Â
With this in mind, I moved from my studies at VUW, immediately into obtaining my Personal Training Certification.
Â
By November 2019, I was a full qualified Personal Trainer, and began taking on clients at Cityfitness.

2020
ONI Personal Training Studio
After lockdown in 2020, Laurent approached me about moving my Personal Training business to ONI Personal Training Studio.

This was a super exciting opportunity, and the easiest yes ever! The level of expertise here, as well as the culture of learning & growth helped me level up in so many ways - personally & professionally.

2021
Powerlifting Competition Coaching
I began coaching clients in person, and online, into their first & successive Powerlifting competitions. Introducing first time competitors to the powerlifting community is something I absolutely love to do. While Powerlifters can be intense at moments, it's also super friendly & uplifting.

This was incredibly rewarding to get into, being a part of some huge moments as people ticked off big goals.Â

2023
Self Improvement
After a major setback with a back injury, in 2022; 2023 was all about the return to form on the Powerlifting platform.

Overcoming this injury gave me a fresh perspective on training, and a huge appreciation for pain free movement/ training.
Â
This period of time was where my philosophy of "Building Strength, For Life" was really etched in.

I totaled 667.5kg this year, up over 100kg from 2018.

2025
Head Coach Role
After 5 years here, I had the privilege of taking on ONI's Head Coach role.

In this role, I get to facilitate upskilling & mentoring for the other Personal Trainers, organize gym events & keep the gym culture going strong!

Being able to play a role in nurturing the culture I admired so much when I joined ONI has been epic.

2026
Seminars & Workshops
Across 2025/26, I introduced my Strength Series Workshops.

I built this series on the mantra of "empowering autonomy through education". Going deeper into the nuances of technique, mindset & anatomy than is practical during 1-1 training.
Â
My aim is to equip attendees with the knowledge to make better informed decisions about their own training (when no coach is present).

Since they began, I have run this series for general population, other gyms, PT schools & workplaces!
